Re-scoring 9POV Enneagram Test

We will be rescoring our 9POV for the third time, and this time, even though it will not look drastically different, the way you will read the tables will all be in percentages - making it easier to interpret. Previously, we’d used percentile scores. Percentile scores are a way of expressing how a particular score compares to a set of scores in a given data set.

For example, if you are in the 85th percentile, it means you scored better/higher than 85% of the people in the dataset. If you had 75 in your Total score for Type 1, then you scored higher than 75 people in a data set when compared against 100 type 1s.

From August, you will be measured against yourself without any comparison to a data set. Your total scores will be turned into a %. So, it reads like an examination where 90% will be a really high score, 80% will be pretty high, 70% will still be reasonably high, etc.

Question: Would that mean that my scores in the past are inaccurate?

Answer: If your top 3 scores were very close, there will be a chance that your Core Type may change. For many, the scores will not change much and for others, your top 3 may shift a bit.

Question: Do I have to do my test again?

Answer: No, you do not unless you want/choose to. Your old scores will still remain very relevant.

Question: What will happen to the test profiles which have been completed?

Answer: The profiles from the past will remain as they were. They will not be automatically converted.

Why do we need to re-score periodically?

  1. Updating Methodologies: Profiling techniques and methodologies improve over time. Rescoring ensures that measurements reflect the latest and most accurate practices.

  2. Addressing Changes in Environment: The context or environment in which profiling is done can change. This includes changes in technology, societal norms, legal requirements, and organizational priorities. Regular rescoring keeps the measurements relevant.

  3. Ensuring Accuracy: Over time, data can become outdated. Regular rescoring ensures that the measurements remain accurate and reflect the current state of the subject being profiled.

  4. Improving Reliability: Periodic rescoring helps in identifying and correcting any inconsistencies or biases that might have crept into the original measurements, thereby improving the overall reliability of the profiling.

  5. Benchmarking and Performance Tracking: Rescoring allows for the comparison of performance over time, helping to track progress, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

  6. Feedback and Learning: As organizations learn from past experiences, they can refine their profiling criteria and measurements. Rescoring incorporates this feedback into the profiling process.
